In 2023, I was just someone who loved matcha and couldn't find it anywhere in Melbourne. Back then, most people had never tried it, and those who had usually told me it tasted like grass.
Bringing matcha to Australia had always been my dream. But the world wasn't quite ready yet, so I started slowly. I opened Miyama, my first business, serving matcha, hojicha and genmaicha alongside coffee, and quietly introducing people to the teas I loved, one cup at a time.
Then something wonderful happened. Curiosity turned into love, and the matcha I'd been championing for years became something people were seeking out. The demand I'd always believed in had finally arrived.
So I built MiniYama, a place dedicated entirely to my passion: matcha. Every grade we serve is chosen for the way it's prepared, and every drink is made with the same care I've put in since day one.
What started as one person searching for a good cup of matcha has become a little kiosk sharing it with all of Melbourne. Whether it's your first cup or your hundredth, I'm so glad you're here.
